The Egyptian Materials Research Society (Eg-MRS) is a nonprofit organization that allows scientists to share their scientific findings related to materials, towards promoting technological applications. The society was founded by Prof. Dr. R. Kamel Wassef in 1978 as The Egyptian Society of Solid State Science and Applications (ESSA), and renamed in 2003 to reflect the interdisciplinary approach and the wider scope of its subject area within the materials science community.The Society encourages and promotes communications and exchange of technical information through several means; such as the society scientific journal, an annual international Conference, in addition to one-day seminars in various Egyptians Universities. Eg-MRS also works closely with other organizations concerned with materials sciences in Egypt and around the world.
